Privacy Policy

This page explains what Prompt Library handles, what stays on your device, and how support or purchase-related information is treated.

App: Prompt Library
Developer: Martin Baudin, individual developer based in Switzerland

1. Overview

Prompt Library is a macOS application that helps you store, organize, search, and copy text prompts on your device.

This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, how that information is used, and what choices you have. The App is designed to keep your prompt library on your Mac. We do not operate a backend service for the App’s core features, and we do not upload your prompt library to our servers as part of normal App use.

This Privacy Policy covers the data practices of the Prompt Library app itself. If you download, access, purchase, or manage the App through Setapp / MacPaw, Setapp / MacPaw may process information related to your marketplace account, purchase, payment, refund, entitlement, download, device, or use of the Setapp marketplace under its own privacy policy and terms.

2. Who is responsible for this Privacy Policy

For the personal data processed directly by the developer, such as support communications you send by email, the controller is Martin Baudin, an individual developer based in Switzerland.

You can contact the developer about privacy or support matters at treeappslabs@gmail.com.

Setapp / MacPaw is responsible for its own processing of marketplace, account, purchase, payment, refund, entitlement, subscription, download, device, platform, and marketplace-related information. That processing is governed by Setapp / MacPaw’s own privacy policy and terms.

3. Information stored locally on your device

Prompt Library stores your prompt library locally on your Mac. This may include prompt titles, prompt bodies, tags, collections, favourites, search-related metadata, and other information you choose to save in the App.

This information is stored in a local database, such as SQLite, in the App’s application data area. The App may also store small local preferences, such as theme choice, interface settings, onboarding state, or similar App settings.

We do not access, view, collect, transmit, or upload your locally stored prompt content as part of normal App use. We also cannot recover your prompt library for you if it is deleted, corrupted, or unavailable on your device.

4. What the App does not collect

In the current version of the App, we do not collect or transmit the following through the App: names; email addresses; account credentials; device identifiers for tracking or advertising; precise location; analytics or usage telemetry; advertising data; crash reports; application logs; payment card or billing details; prompt content stored locally in your library.

The App does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs in its current implementation. The App does not operate a backend server for its core functionality.

If this changes in a future version, this Privacy Policy will be updated and, where required, additional notice or consent will be provided.

5. Payments and one-time purchases through Setapp / MacPaw

The App may be made available through Setapp / MacPaw with a one-time purchase model.

Payments, refunds, purchase validation, entitlement management, invoices, billing records, tax handling, and related marketplace functions are processed by Setapp / MacPaw and/or its payment providers. We do not receive or store your full payment card details through the App.

Setapp / MacPaw may process information related to your purchase, payment, refund, entitlement, marketplace account, device, download, or use of the Setapp marketplace under its own privacy policy and terms.

Depending on how Setapp / MacPaw makes developer reporting and entitlement validation available, we may receive limited purchase-related or entitlement-related information. This might include information such as whether a one-time purchase, license, or entitlement is active. If received, this information will be used only to provide access to the relevant App features, manage support requests, and comply with commercial, legal, tax, accounting, dispute-resolution, or operational obligations.

For details about how Setapp / MacPaw processes marketplace, payment, account, purchase, refund, entitlement, or platform data, please review Setapp / MacPaw’s own privacy policy and terms.

6. Support communications

If you contact us by email, we will process the information you choose to provide in order to respond to your request, provide support, troubleshoot issues, and maintain appropriate support records.

This may include your email address, your name if you provide it, the content of your message, and any screenshots, files, database files, or attachments you choose to send.

Please review any screenshots, files, database files, or attachments before sending them to us. They may contain prompt content, personal information, confidential information, or other sensitive information. We do not need your full prompt library for most support requests, and you should not send sensitive content unless it is necessary for the issue you want us to investigate.

We do not use support emails for marketing unless you separately opt in.

7. Sensitive information

Prompt Library is a general-purpose prompt organization tool. It is not designed to be a password manager, secrets vault, encrypted notes app, legal archive, medical record system, or secure storage system.

You should avoid storing highly sensitive information in the App, such as passwords, API keys, financial credentials, government IDs, health information, confidential legal documents, trade secrets, or information you cannot afford to lose or expose, unless you understand and accept the risks of storing that information locally on your device.

You are responsible for the content you store in the App and for securing your Mac, user account, backups, and any copied or exported content.

8. Clipboard, shortcuts, and system features

The App may use macOS features that you choose to use or enable.

When you copy a prompt, the selected prompt text is placed on the macOS clipboard. Other apps, system features, or clipboard managers may be able to access clipboard contents depending on your device settings, installed software, and macOS behavior.

If the App offers a global keyboard shortcut, that feature is used to detect the configured shortcut and open the relevant App function, such as quick search. It is not intended to record what you type.

If the App offers a launch-at-login option, that feature is used only to start the App automatically when you sign in, if you enable it.

These features operate on your device and do not send your prompt content to us.

9. Backups and device security

Your local App data may be included in macOS, iCloud, Time Machine, device migration, disk clone, system snapshot, or other backup systems depending on your settings and device configuration. Backup and sync behavior is controlled by Apple, macOS, your device settings, and any backup or sync tools you choose to use, not by us.

Deleting data from the App may not delete copies that already exist in your backups, system snapshots, or third-party storage tools. We cannot delete or recover data from your local backups.

You are responsible for securing your Mac, including your login password, user account access, FileVault settings, physical device security, backup storage, and any copied prompt content.

Prompt Library does not provide separate app-level encryption for your prompt library. Protection of local data depends on your Mac, macOS security settings, user account access, FileVault, physical device security, and backup configuration.

10. Data deletion and local control

Your prompt library is stored locally on your device. You can manage, edit, and delete prompts inside the App using the available App features.

The current version of the App does not provide a dedicated export or import feature. If you need to preserve important prompt content, you are responsible for copying it or backing it up using your own device, system, or backup tools.

If you uninstall the App, macOS may not automatically remove all local application data. Some local files may remain unless you manually remove them according to macOS behavior. We cannot access, delete, export, correct, or recover your local prompt data for you because we do not collect or store it on our servers.

11. No external network requests for core App functionality

The App does not make external network requests for its core prompt library functionality, such as creating, editing, searching, organizing, or copying prompts.

The App may interact with Setapp / MacPaw or related marketplace systems where necessary for one-time purchase processing, entitlement validation, licensing, activation, marketplace distribution, or similar functions required to provide paid App access through Setapp / MacPaw.

Prompt content is not sent to Setapp / MacPaw or to us by the App as part of normal App use.

12. Legal bases for processing

Where applicable, we process personal data on the following legal bases.

We process support communications because it is necessary to respond to your request, provide support, troubleshoot issues, and pursue our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the App.

We may process limited purchase or entitlement-related information, if made available through Setapp / MacPaw, because it is necessary to provide paid App functionality, manage licensing, respond to support requests, and perform related contractual or operational obligations.

We may process limited business, support, legal, tax, accounting, fraud prevention, security, or dispute-resolution records where necessary to comply with legal obligations or pursue legitimate interests.

Where we ask for consent for a specific activity, we process the relevant data based on that consent. You may withdraw consent where applicable, without affecting processing that took place before withdrawal.

Local prompt content stored only on your device is not collected by us as part of normal App use.

13. Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your personal data for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not track you across apps or websites.

We may share limited personal data only where necessary for the following purposes: with service providers that help us provide email, support, hosting, business operations, or similar services; with Setapp / MacPaw or relevant marketplace/payment providers where necessary for purchase, entitlement, refund, licensing, tax, legal, fraud prevention, dispute-resolution, or marketplace operations; where required by law, regulation, court order, legal process, or government request; where necessary to protect the rights, safety, security, or integrity of users, the App, our business, or others; or in connection with a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, provided appropriate safeguards apply.

We do not share your locally stored prompt library because we do not collect it in the first place.

14. Retention

Local prompt data remains on your device until you delete it, uninstall the App, remove local App data, or your device or backup systems otherwise change or remove it. We do not control retention of your local prompt library because we do not store it on our servers.

Support communications are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your request, maintain support records, resolve disputes, improve the App, and comply with legal or operational obligations. We periodically delete or anonymize support records that are no longer needed.

Limited purchase, entitlement, business, tax, accounting, legal, or dispute-resolution records may be retained for the period required or permitted by applicable law.

15. International processing

Because your prompt library stays on your device and we do not operate an App backend for core App functionality, we do not transfer your local prompt content to our servers as part of normal App use.

If you contact support, your email, message, and any attachments you send may be processed in Switzerland and in any country where the relevant email, hosting, support, or business service providers operate.

Setapp / MacPaw and its payment providers may process marketplace, payment, purchase, refund, entitlement, account, device, download, or platform-related information in accordance with their own privacy policies and international transfer arrangements.

Where required by applicable law, appropriate safeguards will be used for international transfers, such as adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, contractual safeguards, or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

16. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable privacy laws. These may include the right to request access to personal data we hold about you, correction of inaccurate personal data, deletion of personal data, restriction or objection to processing, portability of personal data, withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent, and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

You can contact us at treeappslabs@gmail.com to exercise these rights.

Because your prompt library is stored locally and is not collected by us, we cannot access, correct, export, recover, or delete that local prompt content for you. You can manage local prompt data directly in the App or through your device, subject to macOS and backup behavior.

If your request relates to Setapp / MacPaw account, payment, purchase, refund, entitlement, license, download, device, or marketplace data, you may need to contact Setapp / MacPaw directly because that data is processed by Setapp / MacPaw under its own privacy policy and terms.

17. California and similar privacy disclosures

Where applicable, users may have rights to know what personal information is collected, used, disclosed, sold, or shared; to request deletion or correction; to opt out of sale or sharing; to limit certain uses of sensitive personal information; and to be free from discrimination for exercising privacy rights.

We do not sell personal information and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.

In the current version of the App, we do not collect prompt content, analytics, advertising data, crash reports, application logs, device identifiers for tracking, precise location, names, email addresses, or payment card details through the App. We may process support communications you choose to send us and limited purchase or entitlement-related information if made available through Setapp / MacPaw and where necessary to provide paid App functionality or support.

18. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the App.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information through a support request or other direct communication, please contact us at treeappslabs@gmail.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete the information where required.

19. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information we receive directly, such as support communications. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

The security of your local prompt library depends primarily on your Mac, macOS security settings, user account access, FileVault, backup configuration, physical device security, and any copied prompt content.

You should keep your device updated, use a strong device password, enable appropriate macOS security settings, and store backups securely.

20. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above.

For material changes, we may provide additional notice in the App, on our website, through the marketplace, or by another appropriate method. Where legally required, we will request consent before applying material changes to how we process personal data.
